Sources Of Traffic: Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising

Yet another great way to increase traffic is to advertise through PPC advertising methods, whereby you only actually pay when your advertisement is clicked.

As there are a number of factors, aspects and costs involved in PPC, we will just scratch the surface here. My focus on this site is to present you with free or inexpensive methods of building your business.

PPC can rapidly incur major expense to the uninitiated, and its methods and intricacies go beyond the scope of this series of posts.

What is PPC?

Basically, you end up only paying ‘per visitor’, or ‘click’ as the title suggests.

Running a PPC campaign however, is a bit more involved than it sounds. Where there is high competition for a certain keyword, you will have to pay more per click for your advertisement to appear often in the search results.

Thus, it boils down to a question of keyword research again, and finding targeted, but low-competition keywords which you can then exploit.

Properly carried out, PPC is one of the easiest ways to gain traffic quickly, though admittedly, you do have to pay for it. Dollar for dollar this would appear to be a no-brainer, but you need to be extremely careful when running PPC campaigns, the costs can mount quickly – especially if you are not sure of what you are doing.

In my next post, we’ll take a look at drawing traffic from forums and blogs.
